Straddling the historic border between Cheltenham and Leckhampton, the district once known as ‘South Town’ grew rapidly from agricultural and industrial beginnings to a fully urban landscape, in the first half of the 19th century. This richly illustrated talk explores its origins, how the growth came about and the diverse character of the area we see and value today.
